After studying painting at Yong-In University in Yongin-Shi, Korean artist Eunhye Hwang completed a degree in Performance Art and Sound Art at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig (Braunschweig University of Fine Arts) under Marina Abramovic´ and Ulrich Eller.

Hwang uses a variety of media in her ephemeral, artistic works, integrating objects she finds in her surroundings as well as the spectators who witness her performances. In Call for Toll (2008), a combination of documentary and video installation, Hwang worked with a group of High-School-teenager from Kiel to create a mobile-phone concert. One mobile started playing ringtones and songs saved as MP3 files, and the others follow. Soon all of them were playing at the same time and an interactive dialogue develops. A conductor beated time and gave signals to stop or change the sequence, although the participants choose the actual songs themselves. How the performance ended also depended on the participants, as each is free to decide when they want to stop.
