Screening with works by Stefani Glauber & Hermes Villena, Stefan Ramírez Pérez, Şirin Şimşek, Miriam Gossing & Lina Sieckmann

Graduates of the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne

In the month of January the JULIA STOSCHEK FOUNDATION is presenting selected works by young graduates of the Academy of Media Arts Cologne within the STUDIO 54 film program.

The screening, which will be held in the cinema of the Collection’s building in Düsseldorf, will show a total of four works by Stefani Glauber & Hermes Villena, Stefan Ramírez Pérez, Şirin Şimşek and Miriam Gossing & Lina Sieckmann.

Whereas RE:RE:RE: (2017) by Glauber & Villena accompanies various objects and the process they undergo from a physical to a digital image, in AS MUCH AS ANYONE (2017) Ramírez Pérez questions the relationship between documentation and fiction, authenticity and construction. In HÜZÜN (2017), German-Turkish artist Şimşek links in documentary fashion the current political situation in Turkey with a questioning of her own identity and family background. In their 16mm film OCEAN HILL DRIVE (2016), Gossing & Sieckmann explore the phenomenon of the “shadow flicker,” a pulse of shadows and reflections resulting from a wind turbine located too close to a Boston suburb.

The artists will be present and will comment on their works.

In cooperation with the Academy of Media Arts Cologne.

On March 20, 2019 a second screening will be held at JSC Düsseldorf at 7.30 p.m. with works by further graduates of the Academy of Media Arts Cologne.
